Close menu Product information "CR Brass double nipple" According to CE certification, seacocks and other fittings on new boats must show no signs of strength, tightness or function being impaired under water after 5 years. This can work with normal MS 58 brass valves, but unfortunately often does not. The service life of brass valves is shortened by: more and more on-board electrics can cause leakage currents and thus electrolysis, aggressive liquids at toilet and waste tank outlets, high salt content of seawater and high water temperatures (especially in the Mediterranean and Caribbean). Brass then galvanizes, resulting in considerably reduced strength and even complete material breakage. The solution to this problem is DZR or CR brass, equivalent to CW 602N. This brass alloy has a much longer service life in seawater than MS 58. The higher price of CR brass valves compared to MS 58 valves is quickly put into perspective when you consider the shorter service life and the labor costs for the more frequent replacement of the cheaper brass valves.
